Wildlife, Pets, and Everything in Between
ABOUT ME

🐾 Hi, I’m Sydney — the heart behind Fin to Fur
I’ve always felt at home with animals — whether submerged in saltwater tracking marine species, or curled up on a clinic floor comforting a rescue pup. My background bridges wildlife conservation and veterinary support, built on years of academic study and hands-on experience with creatures of all kinds.
I earned my B.S. in Conservation and Wildlife Management, with a focus on both animal science and communication. I’m currently expanding my work into veterinary care and companion animal advocacy — where empathy meets evidence-based care.
I created Fin to Fur to reflect the full range of my animal care experience — from studying wildlife in marine ecosystems to supporting companion animals in clinical and shelter settings. My background includes animal anatomy, pathology, livestock handling, aquariology, and hands-on work with rescue animals. I'm especially passionate about blending ecological knowledge with compassionate animal health practices — offering care that respects the biology, behavior, and individual needs of every species I work with.
🌎 Why “Fin to Fur”?
Because I believe in showing up for every animal — wild, domestic, or somewhere in between. From the ocean to the shelter floor, this work is about empathy, understanding, and building trust with every creature I meet. Whether it swims, scurries, flies, or fetches — I’m here to support its health and well-being with care grounded in science and heart.

Seagrass monitoring project, Hoga Island 2018
During the summer of 2018, I gained hands-on experience as a research assistant in Indonesia, where I assisted PhD students in coral reef monitoring and data analysis. I gained tons of useful field experience that catapulted me into my passion for ocean conservation. I was able to obtain my Reef Survey Techniques Certification throughout my expedition. I then went on to get my PADI Rescue Scuba Diver Certification in Florida 2022. Currently, I am seeking to expand my experience with marine field research and conservation, and enhance my skill set.
